Hometown Welcome Program was the brainchild of president & founder, Fred Gushwa in 2010. His goal was to develop a program that provided a competitive edge to local media companies by offering their local advertisers access to an appealing audience of new families moving into and around their community.
Fred built a successful, 7-store chain of regional piano & organs stores from his hometown of Sturgis, Michigan. After selling this large business, Fred began the process of developing the Hometown Welcome Program into a scalable, national business.
Today, we partner with media companies in 35 states and more than 500 markets. His creative leadership skills enabled him to conceptualize and execute a business plan designed to grow revenue for media companies and their local advertisers.
Fred hired seasoned media professionals to support his new concept and to this day, his team members are strong partners for all our customers and do what it takes to help them succeed.
In 2017, Fred knew it was time to develop a digital component to maintain & further strengthen the program’s relevance and effectiveness. The Plan To Shop survey website was born with the idea of supporting the core program with shopping behavior data that not only helps our media partners but gives the local advertisers valuable information they need.
